My Pregnancy Journal: Week 31

31 weeks in. This is what is happening with My Little Loodle:

She's about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long and weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds this month. She's getting so big and probably crowding your lungs. Weighing in at three-plus pounds, baby is quickly approaching her birth length — though she's got to pack on another three to five pounds before D-day. Also developing at an impressive clip: baby's brain connections (she's got to make trillions of them!). She's now processing information, tracking light, and perceiving signals from all five senses. She's also putting in longer stretches of sleep, which is why you're probably noticing more defined patterns of wakefulness (and movement) and rest (when she’s pretty still).

My Symptoms: Mostly trouble sleeping and heartburn/ acid reflux, which leaves me uncomfortable and completely exhausted.

Maternity clothes?  All of the time... and I'm starting to get used to being this big.

Sleep? I wake up a lot during the night, but I get to return to sleep and get lots of rest during the day so I am not complaining one bit.

Best moment last week? We had a snow day this past week and it was so nice to have Paul home all day with me.

Movement? A LOT and it's wonderful!

Weight Gain: I feel big... and I look big.

Cravings: None this week.

What made me cry this week: Those stupid hormones... but it's always nice to have a good cry every now and then, right?

Medical Stuff: Nothing new.

Something I am excited about: BABY!!! I look at all this cute adorable baby stuff and, although I haven't yet experienced mothering a real life infant, I am excited to be exhausted because the little one needs snuggles!

My Pregnancy Journal: Week 30

30 weeks in. This is what is happening with My Little Loodle:
Your belly’s increasing size is a definite clue that your baby is getting bigger every day, weighing in at over three pounds now (she’ll be packing on the weight at a rate of half a pound per week for the next seven weeks). Also growing daily is her brain, which is actually starting to look like the real thing with those characteristic grooves and wrinkles. And now that the little genius can regulate her own body temperature and turn up the heat, she'll start shedding lanugo, the downy body hair that's been keeping her warm up until now.

Me at 31 Weeks and 0 Days

My Symptoms: Mostly trouble sleeping and heartburn, which leaves me uncomfortable and completely exhausted.

Maternity clothes?  All of the time... got some new yoga pants and two shirts the other day (soooo comfy!)

Sleep? Limited but it only helps me prepare for this little one ;)

Best moment last week? This whole week I was in Colorado with my parents... my own little "Babymoon." It was wonderful!!

Movement? A LOT!

Weight Gain: I've been getting depressed about my weight gain so I'm glad I only check it whenever I go to the doctor.

Cravings: This week was chocolate.

What made me cry this week: Hormones... those crazy hormones! ;)

Medical Stuff: Nothing new.

Something I am excited about: I return to my husband tomorrow after him (and me) being away for a week :)

My Pregnancy Journal: Week 29

29 weeks in. This is what is happening with My Little Loodle:

Baby already measures about 15.2 to 16.7 inches long. Right now, she weighs about 2.5 to 3.8 pounds but she's still got a ways to go. Though she's getting pretty close to her birth length, she still has to chub out a bit. In fact, over the next 11 weeks, she'll more than double — or even come close to tripling — her weight. And as she grows and the room in your womb gets tighter, you'll be less likely to feel those big kicks and more likely to get poked by an elbow or jabbed by a knee.

My Symptoms: Back pain, trouble sleeping, and heartburn like no other!!! Also, I've been having leg cramps and I am totally and completely exhausted.

Maternity clothes?  Only maternity clothes or sweatpants (and big t-shirts) now.

Sleep? Consecutive sleep is impossible... I get 2 hrs before having to get up to use the restroom (annoying, but this prepares me for baby)

Best moment last week?
Valentines day was wonderful!

Movement? A LOT!

Weight Gain: 157 lbs. I have gained 5 pounds since my last visit.

Cravings: Frozen fruit (not the funnest when the weather outside is freezing). I buy a big package of mixed frozen fruit (strawberries, grapes, and my favorite mix: pineapple, peaches, and mango...yummy)
Food Aversions: Tomato soup, cilantro, spaghetti, onions, and spicy things.

What made me cry this week: talking to the eye doctor and not being able to get more contacts without going in for a visit, which is frustrating because I hear that vision changes when you're pregnant and I don't want to waste a visit when I know the prescription will change in like 2 months (frustrating!)

Medical Stuff: Nothing new.

Something I am excited about: Tomorrow I go to Colorado! :)

My Pregnancy Journal: Week 28

28 weeks in. This is what is happening with My Little Loodle:

Baby is settling into the proper position for birth, with her head facing downward (hopefully). Baby's the size of an eggplant! Putting on layers of fat, baby now weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches. She's busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths. Baby's sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means she could be dreaming already!

My Symptoms: Back pain, trouble sleeping, heartburn, some leg cramps, going to the bathroom every 30 minutes, feeling exhausted/sleepy all day.

Maternity clothes?  Only maternity clothes or sweatpants now.

Sleep? I get up at least three times a night.Getting back to sleep is sometimes easy but sometimes hard because the baby kicks so much. Positioning is getting easier and I'm getting used to sleeping on my side (which is really really good!).

Best moment last week?

Baby let me get a full night's sleep one night without me having to get up and go to the bathroom. I only had to reposition myself once. It was a wonderful night's sleep :)
Groundhog Day was last weekend! Paul and I went to a college that makes a big deal about Groundhog Day. This year was the school's 50th Groundhog Day Celebration and since we were unable to get down there to see all our friends and celebrate big with them, we went to the one held in Saint Louis. Alumni from this university host Groundhog in different cities all over the U.S. so it was great to meet new people and talk about our different (and same) experiences when going to school. It was a fun night out :)

Movement? A lot of movement which makes me feel good since that means she is still alive and healthy :)

What made me cry this week: hormones... stupid hormones make me so sensitive to anything and everything anyone says to me. (sigh)

Medical Stuff: All's well in med land!

Something I am excited about: Next weekend is my Colorado trip!!! Paul and I are going to different states for a week (he's going for work and I'm going to visit my parents), so we will have our "babymoon" apart from one another. I'm still excited since I don't know the next time we will be able to go to Colorado before next Christmas :)
