Week 21: Baby #3

Baby at 21 Weeks:

Baby is as big as a Endive!

10.5 inches and about 12.7 ounces

"As baby's digestive system preps for the outside world, he's manufacturing meconium-the tarry black substance you'll find in the first dirty diaper! His testes are still located in his abdomen but will drop in the coming weeks once the scrotum finishes developing." ~The Bump

My Symptoms: Lots of bathroom visits. My bump is a real bump and there's no hiding it now. There have been bouts of acid reflux but I know it's nowhere close to how bad it can, and probably will, get. I am taking it easy when it comes to my lifting schedule; no mile runs as a warm up and I am keeping my heart rate more controlled as well as decreasing weight when I need to. Varicose vein pain sucks and I can tell they are getting worse and more visible.
Maternity clothes? Not in full swing yet, but I do wear maternity shirts. I am still able to wear my regular jeans and shorts for now. Maybe next week will be the transition week.

Sleep? No complaints really. I am not looking forward to when my hips will start to ache or when I will have more trouble getting out of bed or repositioning myself, but that hasn't been a problem yet.

Best moment last week? We had a week of recuperation after coming back from our amazing visit to Colorado. The best moment was finding out, to my surprise, that we would be welcoming a boy in February. I really thought he was a girl. We had taken family photos in Colorado, thank you to my brother in law and sister. And so I now have a lot of girl clothes to store (I was sent a lot of girl clothes from one of my sisters).

Our announcement

This was in the waiting room; right before we found out the gender! Agnes wanted him to be a girl.

Movement? I feel him kick and even Paul was able to feel his kicks for the first time when we were in Colorado. It was pretty cool.

Weight Gain: I'm at least 140 I think. I'll weight myself tomorrow at the gym.

Cravings: Chocolate... or anything sweet, but not as bad as before. I have indulged these past two weeks and now my skin is paying for it. It's time to reel in the sweets and take in the raw veggies!

Food Aversions: Just the cilantro... that may not be a pregnancy aversion though ;)

What made me cry this week: Sometimes motherhood is overwhelming. I wasn't being the mom I wanted to be and since I was going away for the weekend this past weekend (to Dallas), I cried because I n didn't want to leave my kids. I knew I'd miss them so badly. I did miss them but it was only for a short time.

Medical Stuff: The 20 week ultrasound went well. Baby boy is doing well and I had a check up that day. He is healthy.

Something I am excited about: I am excited to find out when we are moving. Paul took a job in Atlanta and we are just waiting to see when our house hunting trip will be and when his start date is. We will, hopefully, be in our new house by Christmas.

Something I am anxious about: I'm anxious about all the change that will eventually happen. I will have to find a new doctor, we will need to make an offer on a house and close
